About Stumpier Pigeon Strings
A Minneapolis adult violin studio built for clear coaching, quiet rooms, and practice that respects a working life.
Stumpier Pigeon Strings opened to serve adult musicians who wanted serious violin instruction without a children-first calendar. The name is odd on purpose—easy to remember on Hennepin Avenue, and a reminder that the studio prefers character over corporate gloss.
Teaching here means listening first. We watch how you stand, how the bow meets the string, and what kind of sound you already like. From there we write a short plan: technique thread, repertoire thread, and a realistic home practice sketch.
We are a small studio. Appointments stay private. Group events are rare and optional. The atmosphere is coastal-calm blue-gray light, maple instruments, and conversation that stays practical.
Who we teach
Adult beginners, returning amateurs, and intermediate players who want better tone and clearer intonation. We do not position ourselves as a kids academy. Families seeking youth programs will be happier with studios designed for that path.
